"The Pageant"  at Odessa International Film Festival - European Documentary Competition

“The Pageant” will be in the 11th Odessa International Film Festival - European Documentary Competition.

The festival will be held online due to COVID-19 restrictions.

You can access the film's page on the festival website by clicking here.

"The Pageant"  Turkish premiere at Antalya Film Festival - National Documentary Competition

My film “The Pageant” will be in the 57th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival’s National Documentary Competition. This could be the first physical screening of the film (fingers crossed).

And I’m very happy to see two films that I edited are also in the line-up: Zeynep Dadak's “Invisible to the Eye” & Serdar Kökçeoğlu's “Mimaroğlu: The Robinson of Manhattan Island”.

Two films that we supported last year at the festival's Documentary Work-in-Progress jury ("Wind Horse", "Orchid's in Fire") are also in the program.

"The Pageant" Balkan premiere at Sarajevo Film Festival's Documentary Competition

I was thrilled to be part of Sarajevo Film Festival's Documentary Competition with my film "The Pageant". In the past, I participated to the festival as a producer with "Albüm" which won Heart of Sarajevo Best Film Prize, and as an editor with "Hinterlant" which was in the short film competition.

But screening "The Pageant" in Sarajevo was especially meaningful, as the film touches on the issue of genocide remembrance. Sarajevo has its own (more recent) experience of genocide and I would have loved to be there, taking audience questions and see how the film resonates there. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the festival was held online and there was no audience interaction. In any case, it was good to share the film and I'm grateful for this opportunity.

Zeyndep Dadak's "Invisible to the Eye"  World Premiere at DokuFest

"Invisible to the Eye" is the new feature documentary by the acclaimed Turkish director Zeynep Dadak ("Blue Wave", "On the Coast"). I worked as the editor on this inspiring project.

The film traces the particular itinerary of Eremya Çelebi Kömürciyan’s 17th century travelogue, "History of Istanbul: Istanbul in the 17th century”, in today’s Istanbul. The film, which came to life under the counseling of Ottoman historian Cemal Kafadar, invites the audience to experience “the pleasure of viewing” Istanbul.

Good news in difficult times: Two of my projects will have their World premieres

at Visions du Réel 2020

"The Pageant" is a feature documentary that I've been working as a director & editor for more than 4 years. The film is about a beauty pageant among Holocaust Survivors and will be part of the main competition (International Feature Films) at Visions du Réel. It was produced by Kamara, Survivance, Spiro Films & Welt Film. For more info & updates, you can click here.

"Mimaroğlu: The Robinson of Manhattan Island" is a feature documentary about the always-inspiring musician/writer/producer Ilhan Mimaroğlu who recently passed away. I was the editor on this project which was put together mostly from the personal archives of Ilhan Mimaroğlu (8mm & Video8). The documentary is directed by Serdar Kökçeoğlu and will be featured on the Burning Lights International Competition at Visions du Réel.
